1st Tegal International Conference: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Innovation
A multidisciplinary approach is a way of innovation and renewal. Collaboration is developed between members of the community, academia, industry, local and central government to increase effective and efficient ideas, innovation, creativity and planning. The approach was discussed at an international seminar organized by Politeknik Harapan Bersama on Wednesday (26/01/2022) at the 1st Tegal International Conference on Multidisciplinary Studies (TIC-MS). The discussion was held in a hybrid format, both online and offline, and featured a variety of speakers from both within and outside the country.
Sudirman Said, Secretary General of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), mentioned that the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to innovate, improve and create new services. Every innovation and improvisation, he believes, must take a multidisciplinary approach. "By taking a multidisciplinary approach, we can innovate and improve to create new products." "In addition, to being an expert in natural disaster management, blood donation services, and health, PMI must also be an expert in human resources and information technology," Sudirman explained.
The world is witnessing VUCA= Volatility (Change / Anomaly), Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. This fact is based on the global crisis phenomenon, which includes the instability caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis linked to climate change, environmental, health, and humanitarian crisis. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, noted that collaboration is essential for complementing each other and sharing roles, while sharing ideas and experiences so they can be solutions and a catalyst for the pandemic. Winner, this is an absolute must. To produce effective and efficient ideas, innovations, creativity, and programs, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy requires collaboration from the community, academia, industry, also the local and central government.
"Universities are knowledge centres, centres of excellence and entrepreneurship." As a result, collaboration is expected to provide inputs for the government in formulating policies and programs that can have a broad impact on the community and promote sustainability," said Sandi.
Agung Hendarto, Director of Politeknik Harapan Bersama, said that educational institutions such as Politeknik Harapan Bersama must contribute to providing knowledge and information related to the academic development to the community in order to provide benefits and change for the better. "Over four hundred seminar participants were invited to the conference to improve and enrich their knowledge in order to widen their thoughts, vision, and mission." "The speaker's presentation could provide in-depth and meaningful information that could be intended to apply in a range of contexts across disciplines," Agung explained.
